Pre Islamic Arabia

Hijaz is the holy land for Muslims percent in the western part of modern Saudi Arabia and is dry and hot.

Geography

Arabian Peninsula or simply Arabia covers over 2 million square kilometers. This land is linked with all three continents which were present in the old world -Asia, Africa, and Europe. This land was so hot that Egyptians didn’t consider to venture. Alexander the Great did not invade on his way to Persia and India. Roman empire attacked and couldn’t bear the hot environment, thus failed to annex. Even the residents themselves could barely stand the heat. This hotness protected Arabs from external attacks.

The Arabs

Hospitality was the characteristic of Arabs. They often confronted famine. To defend themselves from famine, Arabs relied on their relatives. The groups of families called clan in Arab. Several clans together were considered a tribe. They called the tribal leader shaikh. Arabs had a fantastic ability to remember things. They were capable of reciting thousands of poems without any mistake or interruption. Due to this reason, the writing was very uncommon in the Arabia Peninsula. As for faith is concerned, Arabs were polytheistic.
